There are certain characteristics that must be incorporated in a spotting scope for it to be specified as true tactical scope. For example, the scope has to incorporate an ergonomically designed housing and a special rubberized armor covering which allows the user to grip the scope comfortably when moving from location to location and helps protect the spotter from harsh environmental conditions. The scope should be compact in size, have impressive eye relief with twist-up eyecups that have fold down flaps to block light and change eye relief. Tactical scopes give the shooter as much control as possible over extreme types of shooting conditions.
